UltraCard Demonstrates Secure Technology At Democratic National Convention

LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 21, 2000--UltraCard Inc., a subsidiary of Upgrade International Corp. (OTCBB:UPGD) that is engaged in the development and commercialization of high capacity, portable data storage, gave personal demonstrations of the UltraCard technology to attendees of the recently concluded Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles, Calif.

Among those in attendance was Representative Ellen Tauscher (D-CA) who was the first member of Congress to see the UltraCard technology produce a personalized, private, secure UltraCard card with her photo and encrypted fingerprint.

The Congresswoman, from the 10th Congressional District of California, said of the technology, "I am impressed with the (UltraCard) technology especially in terms of security and privacy applications for the government. This technology could greatly reduce the challenges we face with hackers and security breaches. I think it's important to realize that there is no such thing as a secure web site. This technology may be the answer to this problem."

UltraCard Inc. uses a range of proprietary and patented technologies to provide a durable, high capacity, high security read-write portable data storage that also assures system-wide interoperability. The UltraCard combines high capacity hard disk technology, standard magnetic stripe, Smart Card chip and the UltraCard patented technology to produce the revolutionary card.

The specific applications for government include Government Assistance Programs, VA Benefits Programs, Access Control, Security Cards, Bills of Lading, Criminal Records Files, e-Commerce and more. Don Mann, Chief Technology Officer, said Rep. Tauscher "was very impressed with the capability of the technology. Mann added, "The card's ability to store unprecedented levels of data enables the consumer to access extraordinary levels of privacy and control over their personal information. The data is on your card, not on a `hackable' website. It's in your pocket."

UltraCard distributed customized DCCC cards at a special event honoring Dick Gephardt on Sunday, August 13. Attendees who did not receive this commemorative card may request a card via the UltraCard web site at www.ultracard.com.

As part of a plan to liquidate a portion of his holdings in Upgrade International Corporation (OTCBB:UPGD), director David Zucker sold 5,000 shares of Upgrade common stock in a brokered transaction under Rule 144 under the Securities Act of 1933. Mr. Zucker acquired the shares in June of 1999 through exercise of a compensatory stock option granted in November 1998. Mr. Zucker intends to use the proceeds for personal financial matters. Mr. Zucker's sale was made in accordance with Upgrade's policy to permit its insiders to engage in planned sales of securities on the third trading day following the filing of quarterly or annual financial information with the SEC. Upgrade filed its Form 10-QSB for the quarter ended June 30, 2000 on Monday, August 14, 2000. No further sales of shares are expected in the current fiscal year.

The Company is pleased to announce the completion of a change of jurisdiction from the state of Florida to the state of Washington approved by a majority of the shareholders of the Company. The change of jurisdiction was effected through the incorporation of a newly formed Company in the state of Washington and then merging Upgrade -- a Florida corporation into Upgrade -- a Washington Corporation. There is no effect on shareholdings as a result of the merger transaction.

Upgrade International Corp. (OTCBB:UPGD), through its ownership interest in UltraCard Inc., is engaged in the development and commercialization of a patented, data storage technology. UltraCard incorporates conventional hard drive storage technology into a standard credit card form factor, which operates in conjunction with a read/write device and operating software. In addition, Upgrade has acquired and is developing application software and systems for specific applications of the UltraCard technology. Management believes that the UltraCard technology potentially will provide numerous industrial users with a combination of high levels of security and a vastly greater amount of personal, transportable data storage.

Daniel Bland, President

Hal, Not only can heads be replaced in a matter of seconds (not counting the time to remove the cover), but they can be replaced while the other drives are still working.

Also the idea of an internet debate was mentioned. With Gore being the inventor of the internet it would seem that the candidates should be willing and EXBTV would be a natral. Course it probably would go to the company who stuffs the most money in the candidates pocket. Hope Ampex is working this idea just the same.
