There is a nice tutorial on smart antenna at
iec.org
backing up on the same site to iec.org
reveals an extensive list of tech communication related tutorials.
I don't know whether smart antenna will work equally well all kinds of wireless but my concern was whether it might provide a crutch for extending the lifetime of non CDMA. The time span for development probably would indicate that this is not the case in the Americas but elsewhere could be different.

Eric, thanks for your wish list; Id be curious about your thoughts on the relation of Wdcma and qcom's IPR: I know the patent office in Japan and Europe have upheld certain essential patents; but with the work of Docomo etc; do you think the patent situation is as secure as many believe?

Also, where is the European patent office; doesnt each country have their own office ? thanks, steve
