As I understand it, the 4 year cycles are more related to capital investment, capacity increases, and generations of technology than demand.

UF, I believe that the very nature of the technologies and markets has changed this. There are so many semiconductor applications that separate cycles are creating an overall smoothness to the industry. Also, INTC's market segmentation strategy is having the same effect.
