If you want a good short...take a look at EDSN. They take over public schools and run them as private institutions. The company is bleeding money and they have to come up with "fantasy accounting" gimmicks to appease investors. An article was published in last weeks San Francisco Bay Guardian detailing how a charitable foundation set up by the chairman of the Gap Inc. has donated money to certain public schools which coincidentally are then taken over by Edison. Coincidentally, this foundation also happens to own a mess of cheap warrants for Edison stock. EDSN is a hard borrow and it's very squeezable...but if you can ride it out you'll make a lot of money.
