An omen and a difference. As one who focuses on supply of individual stocks and not market indexes ( leave that up to you guys), I have been seeing some very interesting happenings that are not coincidental. My data on the small caps is showing a market much like 1996, that was essentialy the last time the small caps had a n extended move until fall summer 1999. In the period from that run in 96 the small caps were brought down to ridiculous levels, seemingly the only ones who held them were the small investors who didnt take the signals to exit. In fall 99 when these stocks resumed their up trend, ownership was primarily still in their hands. Institutions owned very little of them..Until they began buying the leadership among this group during the sell off. This bodes well for stocks and small caps in particular. Small investors made great gains on these from July 99 through March 00. Since March Instituions engaged in buying them aggressively during the sell off to the lows. Now it's their turn to reap the rewards. From a supply side point of view this means that now the instiutions will ride a bigger wave UP, as they have yet to benefit from the previous moves. In my book on particular stocks, the wave principle forecasts a major up move from here, as the Graduates from the class of 96 are now emerging as Leading Mid cap companies targeting large cap status. Hence much of the rotation that is going on now is the jockeying for ownership. Supply of these stocks is very tight, bordering on Precious. Make no mistake, whether it's 3 days or 30 a Big Up move is coming. PS Been lurking here for a long time and just want to say thanks for all the great work.
