NEA sends their money to the liberals, bottom line (FOLLOW THE MONEY)

>>The other problem I have with vouchers is that the program would tend to siphon off the high-achievers from public school classrooms. << Not if they deliver!

>>Virtually every big city in the country has a fund-raising program whereby the Roman Catholic diocese gives scholarships to needy children who wish to attend Catholic schools.<<

But, TP doesn't want the only "choice" to be religious, I agree. So now a liberal has to support a Catholic system existence for their argument? Do you listen to your double talk?

>>The voucher program is just a slick attempt by Repubs to boost their standing with Roman Catholic parents<<

Ok, now your back to using Catholics as a reason to be against school vouchers????? But, you still haven't explained how this increases their support any more than their prolife stance. This argument is a non starter.

>>Pick one big-city school district, Kansas City, for example. Then close down all the public schools and fire all the teachers. Then contract out educational services with,
say, five private educational companies. Let each of 'em run a grade school or two, and allow parents to send their kids to whichever school they prefer. Study the program with a
microscope. If the idea works, extend it to other cities.<<

Ah, this is almost what a voucher program is so I agree to a point. But, why fire all the teachers??? They're the ones who teach in either system. Why close down the schools? The infrastructure is in place. Let's just "pay" for performance, both to the school that delivers, and the teacher that delivers. I receive my pay and raises based on performance, it doesn't scare me.
