Nixon committed high crimes; Clinton did not.

Hell, the Repubs couldn't even get a simple majority on either vote of impeachment, and they had a 55-45 or 56-44 edge in the Senate!

As I have opined before, the Repubs would have been better off going for censure/embarrassment as opposed to trying to drive the man from office. The American public certainly wasn't in favor of ousting the president based on his misdeeds.

You are correct. It was the Goldwater faction that told Nixon "Time's up." And Gerald Ford did the proper thing in pardoning Nixon, thereby sparing the country trial after trial after trial. Hell, I even voted for Ford over Carter.
