The Nixon "wage and price controls" were a really brilliant scheme. It was probably the stupidest economic policy ever implemented in the U.S.

I agree it was very stupid. I just don't consider it enough by itself to consider Nixon incompetent. In any case if you were to form your opinion of Nixon based ONLY on the fact that he implimented wage and price controls then I would say he was foolish not incompetent. Wise or foolish would have more to do with your overall plans and ideas and competent or incompetent would have more to do with how well you impliment a plan or idea.
