long term this is very bullish for palladium, as another potential source of supply gets compromised.

100K oz. is btw. a drop in the ocean in terms of the supply/demand deficit.

all these 'strategic' reserves that were sold off (silver too btw.) will be sorely missed when they are REALLY needed...

Don't forget F-16s to Kuwait for some gold reserves and $7B+ to Columbia for drug fighting (read oil pipelines).

And I still say a REAL SPR sale is coming, not just some lame 2M barrels of heating oil, probably in mid to late September as to have the max effect on prices going into the election.

Can't you see the speech already on a sunny afternoon right before futures expiration from the Rose Garden - "We are acting today to stop those greedy Big Oil companies that are endangering the longest period of economic prosperity in the history of the US, blah, blah...and releasing 20 million barrels from the SPR." Clinton, flanked by Owl Gore, little Billie Richardson and maybe even Summers too.
