yeah well they've made so many improvements in anesthesia its a hard call which to go with local or general... about the needle in the spinal area I hear ya... however I had eye surgery last year with a local and I was wide awake with my eyes open the entire time talking to the dr, it was amazingly effortless. The medical profession is fascinating, its moving at least as fast as other tech.

Good luck today. I had my daughter by C- section, they gave me a shot in the spine cut me, moved organs around and guess what it didn't hurt a bit! You will be just fine, I promise.
