My favorite:

The confusion may have stemmed from the fact that 3Com distributed some 532 million shares of Palm to its stockholders on July 11, according to Crawford's report. Owners of 3Com stock received 1.84 shares of Palm for each 3Com share.

Actually, the confusion stems from sloppy journalists repeating misinformation...AND from not taking time to proof their own copy.

Though I must say it would have been nice to have received 1.84 PALMs per COMS... :)

P.M.:

Maybe this mistaken "misinformation" (or should I say deliberate "disinformation"?) about the lockup expiration of 532 million shares was the primary cause of the sell off in PALM from 8/8 to 8/17? The information was apparently out there for some time, and some people for sure profited from that sell off and the subsequent recovery.
