See my previous post to you. Revenues surged after Reagan cut taxes, and by cutting taxes he allowed the engine of economic freedom to light again. It's very easy for us to sit here now (20 years after the fact) and not realize the courage it took to take on the entire congress in order to reduce taxes and rebuild our military, which was in desperate shape after the Carter, thus re-igniting the American economy the way Reagan did. We're still benefiting from those tax rate reductions. Can you imagine what the country would look like today had we kept the marginal tax rate at 70%? Business enterprises flourished because the tax strangle-hold was loosened from our citizens neck.
