I will simply bore you with the fact that Reagan's Democratic Congress appropriated less than Reagan proposed. The key is balance. Reagan was great at cutting taxes (sure let's cut everyone's taxes to zero - show of hands, please?), but never was able to articulate what cuts that mattered was going to balance them out. His scam was that he'd cut taxes and drive the government into insolvency, but never have the guts himself to lay on the line where the cuts would come. Let someone else down the line deal with consequences. Trillions (how many zeroes is that?) of dollars of debt - hundreds of billions of dollars in debt service each and every year. This is a legacy we will be paying for our entire lives.
