Nice catch Mani! Those benchmarks are unreal. If they don't have bad drivers or some other software problem, the Willamette looks like a flop(accidental pun). I can't believe such poor numbers yet. The benchmarks are just too weak.

<edit>Holy cow, just started reading some of the SSE, MMX benchmarks!

Mani-- I like the benchmark numbers the author claims. Too bad the benchmarks are fake. The Quake 3 numbers at the bottom of the page are not possible with the stated configuration. Under the conditions the author lists, Q3A is fill-rate limited by a GeForce to much lower values than the person asserts.

The low quality mode scores are plausible; however Q3 normal 1024*768 @ 32-bit color is upper-bounded on a GF to ~83 fps (lower on more complex maps). The article claims 153 fps. Moreover, the stated result is not at all consistent with the other benchmarks provided.

It's almost like the writer took some of SI members' speculations (clock for clock inferiority; SSE2 optimizing certain applications; very high bandwidth) and made the data fit it vewy, vewy cwoswey.

Mani,

Do you have any idea what clock speed the Willy was tested at?

If those benchmarks are correct, P4 is a perfect match for Rambus. High bandwidth, but everything else stinks to high heaven.

Thos P4 numbers are even worse than my worst estimates. P4 may have trouble beating Celeron.
