I am short GLW puts (have been since April) - several dozen contracts in all. Not missing the fun by any means.

However, JDSU will have it's day in the sun. Need to be patient for the big bucks. :-)

GLW has stolen the show. It's like this. Why invest in the unknown of JDSU merger with SDLI when you can invest in GLW? Today that is most obvious.

JDSU probably just got over-owned and the merger just added enough uncertainty for some to exit or at least hold off on buying.

GLW is just flying! It is partly due to its PE; as I have stated many times, its PE is closer to Cisco or NT than it is to JDSU. Therefore it moves up a lot easier. The earnings keep getting revised upward every quarter, meaning that the year over year growth rate (annual comparisons) is also affected by slower quarters 9 to 12 months ago. Once those gets removed in the next 3 to 6 months, we will see greater growth rate for it.

In addition, I don't think it ever got to the point of being over-owned.
We know what happens to overowned stocks of a speculative nature such as QCOM. However, JDSU is much different in that its negative overhang has nothing to do with business.

That is why I am willing to hold on to the stock and adding on weakness as long as the sector itself is still moving up. Not worth trying options on it at least until we get closer to earnings, IMHO. I would note that the short interest in JDSU and SDLI is still increasing---a great positive as I don't think it can be simply dismissed as ARB activity.
