True, people who invested in Godzillas such as AMZN, EBAY or YHOO missed the carnage that befell most dot coms, but even these stocks have been poor investment choices, currently sitting not much higher than where they were in Dec. 1998.

Are you sure. I get a reading of over 100% for Yahoo! and over 50% return for eBay since then. Amazon is -25%. Dial that time frame back two months (eBay's birth) to a year for the others and the returns get really, really sweet. Market beating and trouncing, in fact. None of those stocks were secrets in 1998.
