NOK is a QCOM licensee. The same patents apply to both CDMAone and WCDMA.

Maybe, but then what was the Japan patent ruling about, if not 3G/WCDMA? NOK certainly wasn't suing over cdmaOne patents, since they are a licensee of long-standing.

NOK could claim, as they have said they believe, that their original (cdmaOne) license covers 3G CDMA. But if they believe this, why go to the patent office in Japan to contest QCOM's patents?

Like a cornered rat......looking for a way out!
