Multi-purpose always offers a sacrifices on both ends to accommodate the middle. My wife drives a new Montero Endeavor(opening myself up for harassment here, paid for if that makes a difference)and its a nice ride and hauls all the goodies. Personally I run all my service calls and runabouts in 92 Mazda 323.....serious gasoline microburner!
My second personal vehicle is an 84 K5 blazer, 300hp,33 in tires and 4" lift, 8000lb winch, and an attitude. I run it 3 mos. out of the year during deer season. Driving through the cane fields during grinding season after 10" of rain to get back to the swamp we hunt allows no compromise. I carry no collision insurance as both are old vehicles(well maintained) and plenty of liability coverage in case I accidently drive over something I cant see over the hood. Parking it for 8 months saves me a bundle on gas.<g>
