Yep...Essentially, the Founding Fathers envisioned a free market in politics. That is what pulls parties towards the center, assures the formation of coalitions, and reduces faction. Candidates are entrepeneurs in the primaries, and then gain institutional support if they win nomination. Frankly, freedom of contribution aids marginal candidates primarily, because one or several donors can contribute enough to keep them going while they seek broader support......
