Rambus (RMBS) 76 3/16 -4 7/16: -- Update -- Intel (INTC) files suit against Rambus for patent infringement.

Being reported by Briefing.com.

Lot of people probably scratching their heads on this one now. Rambus infringing on Intel patents? Hmmm. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I'm tempted to think that briefing.com just made a -- ahem -- mistake. Mixed Rambus up with Broadcom, maybe? Rambus not acting like its the target...cause if Intel were suing RMBS it would be down a bit more than 1/2 (see Broadcom). bwdik.

Rocky

I am not talking about whether DDR is Rambus IP.
It is.

I am talking about DDR as main memory in desk top PC's.
I think there is evidence that this big DDR initiative is floundering and Micron is worried about it going under completely.

The P4 benchmarks show RDRAM living up to its promises.
This means no need for DDR on the desk top. The DDR is too little and too late. Moreover, it is not scalable as the RDRAM. QRSL RDRAM is already doubling the speed of RDRAM.
Meanwhile DDR can't get off the ground.
