I hate to add negatives here but on the AMAT thread they have posted releases that foundries are booked thru 2001. I sure hope the Q has all the capacity it needs when 1X ramps up.

Odds are for more/new court cases. "

DaveMG,

Watch NTT.

Think NTT's gonna litigate, or force litigation?

NTT is in a race with time - much like QCOM.

NTT wants to dominate wCDMA as only a first movers can.
NTT wants to sell I-Mode services to the world.
NTT needs to compete with DDI/IDO's 2001 1x schedule/HDR trials.

Why is NTT using QCOM licensed LU and ERICY for the work?

If NTT doesn't litigate, or force litigation - will Europe matter?

IF "WCDMA" patent/license issues remain unresolved ... carriers will demand indemnification from manufacturers, which they'll receive.

You ar probably correct, and NOK will give it to save their business.

However, this whole debate begs one important question: will WCDMA work?! Or let's say work well enough to justify the expense of going with it?

Even though the particulars are certainly distinct, RMBS offers as close a case study as we're likely to be offered.

I now see the similarity, but have one question. Has any company(s) taken Rambus to court or to the patent office and had a ruling issued against them (i.e., in favor of Rambus) as has happened with QCOM at least four times (ERICY here; MOT in Korea; NTT, NOK, etc. in Japan; and whomever in Europe) in the last two years?
