better best case scenario: runaway demand has pushed lead times above three weeks (which I think is about as long as they are willing to reveal on the website freely accessible to anybody; place an order and I think you get an immediate estimate by e-mail -- of course, you've ordered from them, so you knew that, no?).

Edit: It seems I was close, but apparently the e-mail isn't necessarily immediate. Here it is in their own words:

store.sun.com

JMHO, naturally.

Dear Ravi: I am not making assumptions. SUNW has reported for at least 2 qtrs now that their backlog is growing. As Scott said once, we cant just throw this iron over the fence when its completed. Its got to be checked then qualified people go along on the installation. I presume that you are inferring that you have been disappointed with the delivery schedule. Its sort of like when you go to the Doctors Office, rarely do you get to see him/her at your appointed time. I once questioned my Dr. about this and he told me, well should I just walk away from a patient when your time is here? Anyhow, thanks for being a customer of SUNW and I hope that you are happy with your equipment. JDN
