IMO, when the 1 gig threshold was reached, many consumers and investors lost a lot of interest in the race.

Frank,

Do you think the interest will return soon after Intel announces the P4?

I can see by the article that the companies think being the leader in speed is compelling. Big difference between what is necessary and what one may think is necessary. IMO, when the 1 gig threshold was reached, many consumers and investors lost a lot of interest in the race.

Frank,

I agree with you. While the whole competitive thing originates with the company, everyone else i.e. the analysts, OEMs etc. promote it as well. I guess it must be asking too much of AMD and Intel to be more concerned with the quality of the product and its availability rather than its speed.

I think that may be unAmerican. <g>
