What you say is especially true on TV. All you see anymore is a steady stream of dirty sex jokes. Why? Because sex jokes are safe. They don't offend anyone. Look at "The Golden Girls" and "Seinfeld." Each of those shows contained a lot of sexual humor, much of it not all that funny. But it was "safe" humor. No danger of offending any groups of people. Seinfeld's relationships always ended clean. Right. Never any problems with VD or stalking or abortions. Right. Fantasyland. In the '50s, when I grew up, it was just the opposite. Someone like Myron Cohen wouldn't be allowed to tell those wonderful stories of Jewish folks on TV anymore, and someone like Allen King wouldn't be allowed to appear on Ed Sullivan and base a comedy routine on his wife. So all we get anymore (with few exceptions, i.e., the "Cosby" show) is unfunny smut. Sad.
