InfoSpace stock jumps as Alltel uses its product ================================================================ NEW YORK, Aug 30 (Reuters) - Shares of InfoSpace Inc. (NASDAQ:INSP), which provides content and infrastructure services for wireless devices and Web sites, jumped nearly 15 percent on Wednesday after Alltel Corp. (NYSE:AT) contracted to use InfoSpace's products for its new wireless Internet product. Shares of InfoSpace gained $4-11/16, or 14.7 percent, to close at $36-5/8 in heavy trading on Nasdaq. Traders cited the Alltel contract for the sharp jump in InfoSpace's stock. Shares of wireless telephone company Alltel closed at 50-13/16, down 5/8, on the New York Stock Exchange. InfoSpace's wireless infrastructure services let wireless carriers, device manufacturers and software application providers develop customized wireless Internet access sites. Alltel's "Web-Unwired" customers will be able to access information and manage their lives from a mobile handset. "InfoSpace's solution provides us with a full suite of services that makes it simple and convenient for our customers to communicate, transact business and stay in touch via the Internet when they are on the go," said Kevin Beebe, Alltel communications group president. Web-Unwired is available in 46 cities. It plans to offer the service in all of its digital markets by the end of the year. Alltel has communications customers in 23 states and provides information services to telecommunications, financial and mortgage clients in 55 countries and territories.
