I once hunted a place like yours, I had to go in through the back as not to be seen by the wife. All the deer ran to the house. No wonder no one could get a shot. Last deer I shot was 7 years ago. I took her in to a meat cutter. Figured if I was too busy to butcher the animal I was too busy to shoot it. Just my way of thinking. Have som time on my hands now and a sweet shooting Marlin bolt 3" 12 that handles the copper 1 3/8 slug real nice. I just may look into some deer steaks, burger and salami.
