How does everyone feel about placing our troops under UN command and control. Gore would do it and, in all probability, Clinton will maintain a strong sphere of influence within the UN.

Vice President Al Gore would back expansion of the United Nations' power and peacekeeping operations as president, but Republican candidate George W. Bush said he would "never place U.S. troops under U.N. command." Related Articles

Al Gore’s lead over George Bush fell to just 1 point in the most recent IBD/TIPP MetaPoll. Gore surged to a three-point lead a week earlier after the Democrats’ convention and the naming of Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., to be Gore’s running mate. But the tiny 47%-46% lead means the race is too close to call. IBD’s MetaPoll consolidates all major polls into one and has a smaller margin of error than any single poll.
