Do you find something wrong about community standards, Bonnuss? Every thread on SI is devoted to a stock, a strategy, or a topic. That way folks who have special interests can communicate with others with the same interests without having to plough through hundreds of off-topic posts. I don't see anything nefarious in that. But back to our original conversation. Why have you taken such umbrage at the new thread header. Is it the part about attacking Voltaire on his own porch, the part about obscenity, or the part about back stabbing? Or maybe all three??? uf

But if this becomes a places where people like you are going to look to do battle and be rude and to swear at others...yep we need standards or else the whole thing will just fall apart.

Hello????? Will ask you at this point, why is it 'necessary' to DETERMINE some sort of 'structure' for Voltaire's Porch? How are people to determine which threads they will visit if they don't have a clue what the theme or mission of the thread is? Are we supposed to visit every thread on SI & read thousands of posts to determine which threads suit our interests? What about those who come here with their own personal agendas (hint hint)??? The thread header can be used to kindly ask these folks to be considerate of the charter that defines each particular thread. If they choose to be inconsiderate then the SI police can be asked to intervene so the thread can return to its normal activities. Cripe almighty bonuss!!! Look at the yahoo threads!! Look how many private clubs have been created because crackpots & bashers with personal agendas ruined the original intent of those threads. Why do you think SI is so successful? What do you think makes this porch so danged successful? It's because we have a mission statement or charter that defines what the porch is about. That's why each thread on SI has the right to state the purpose of their thread & it's why SI will police them. Uncle Frank has gone well beyond the call of duty to be a moderator & a leader trying to persuade folks to acknowledge what the porch (& his other threads) are about. How you've managed to misinterpret his actions just blows me away. FWIW, you are free to start your own thread where you can dictate your standards any way you want. Please do us a favor here on the porch though. Read the thread header & try to keep your posts here reasonably close to what this thread is about. I wish you well b-i-a. Tim
