This is why I don't understand when a MM will sit on the bid or ask for extended periods of time. For example, in the stock I trade every day GSCO has an unusual style. If he is a seller, he will jump to the ask, and sit there until he is satisfied, sometimes selling 10's of thousands of shares in one "sitting". He is not subtle whatsoever, and rarely jumps from bid, to ask etc. Why do this instead of hiding your hand through an ECN?
