Stock Screen Web Sites

FredE,

Thanks for the link. It looks pretty interesting. I'll give it a try.

My biggest complaint about most screening sites is the restrictive format. Some sites will only allow you to compare a variable against a fixed value or range of values. Other sites only allow you to compare their selected variables against other selected values.

This is why I prefer Market Player. You can manually build your own search criteria using their list of variables. You can even create your own mathematical formulas and use them in your selection criteria.

Probably the best site to help you select the proper stock-screening engine is:
stocks.about.com
They list 13 –14 sites and have a very nice table showing what items each site screen for. This is a great starting point to help you find the best screening site for your needs.

Stock-Market-Investing has links to 16 Online Stock Screening sites.

Another list of Stock Screening tools can be found at:
amateur-investors.com

Fortune Investor has a very powerful screen tool. I found it a little difficult to use but you can build some powerful queries (technical and fundamental).

Stockcharts.com has a good site for screening on technical indicators.
stockcharts.com

For both technical and fundamental screening, you can try old.stockselector.com

MSN Money Central Investor has a nice tool that allows you to compare variables against other variables. You will probably need to spend some time to get used to it. moneycentral.msn.com

For CANSLIM fans: premium.canslim.net
They require you to register, but it’s free and not overly intrusive.

CNBC has a unique screening tool, but I don’t care much for the “cutesy” interface.
cnbc.com

CBS Market Watch allows you to screen for a limited number of fundamental and technical criteria.
www2.marketwatch.com

This one looks like like it potential useful (several TA indicators), but I have had problems accessing the site. easystock.com

For a simple to use screen, I’ve gotten surprising good results on special queries:
invest.foxmarketwire.com

Here are some more screening sites that some people might find useful.

financialweb.com
hoovers.com
dailystocks.net
investools.com
screen.morningstar.com
stockpoint.com
screen.yahoo.com
quicken.com
siliconinvestor.com
