I figured as much. You seem to be one of the more thoughtful members on this board. Wrong, but, thoughtful. I think my point is more sound: the only way to move from big deficits and big debts is to continue the course. Big tax cuts, and major spending initiatives in an era of relative prosperity are economic folly. The benefits of big tax cuts into the cauldron of an bubbling economy will evaporate into the interest rates and inflation that will follow. Wipe out as much of the debt as possible when times are good, and when the economy slows again, there is the wherewithal to cushion the fall with tax cut or targeted spending/investments then. The economic cycle has not been repealed, just postponed. I just happen to believe that Bush stands to do more harm than Gore - Gore will have more constraints on his promises.
