But you see, of course, that what it comes down to is the whole agenda. It so happens that Delay and Armey would be setting MY agenda, as much as theirs, for the most part. You don't want them to win, and therefore support Gore, who will at least have veto power. Makes sense, but the underlying calculations are quite different.........

You have absolutely no basis for that argument. For 40 years the national debt has skyrocketed until recent years when this has turned around. What was the one constant during the 40 years....a democratic house. What change coincided with budget surplus... a republican house. What programs have the greatest risk of federal financial disaster? Entitlement programs, which are a result of democratic give away programs for the purposes of votes.

The Clinton rhetoric has done more to put people in classes and groups and done more to divide. Saying that a Republican president and house would be financial/social disaster is pure hyperbole.
