Universality of thought.
It's a strange Jungian thing.

the flood myth,
When my son was about 5 we went to a scenic spot on a hill. The area is covered in fossil shells. I asked him how he thought the shells got there to see if he could recreate the flood myth. Instead he figured that the (American) indians probably had picnics there because it had a good view and this was their trash. (There was a fair amount of recent trash there too).
