JDN, read this about the P4, if you want to see a completely different opinion from the slamming it's been getting here, and on the AMD threads. The author is Paul Damone. I've just started to hear about him and read his stuff, but I think he's highly regarded:

JDN - If you can get a bad P4 chip cheap I would do it. I'll bet you can spend the rest of your life trying to lock it up and not succeed.
