Check out the latest on Sierra Leonne mission. Kidnapped soldiers and all. UN does not decide if Americans go to hot spot missions. Americans decide for themselves if they will participate or not.

In Somalia it took dragging of one US Soldier on the streets to create stomach churning reaction and calls to bring the boys back home.

BTW: It is not national from smaller poor countries that participate in UN missions. UK, Australia, Canada, Dutch .... do their bit.

Exactly, the distinction is known in the military as peacemaking when discussing situations such as Bosnia or Kosovo, both having nothing to do with US national security interests. In fact the KLA had been on the major drug dealing list.knc
