I just saw the last half-hour of the program. I hope PBS repeats it so I can see it in its entirety. Footage of Newt was bracketed by comments from Barney Frank, Trent Lott, Dennis Hastert, others. Yes, Newt was humanized. He's a very interesting person. The program made the point that there were two dominant political figures in the 1990s: Newt and Clinton. Clinton survived, Newt didn't. But some, including Newt himself, opined that Newt won the policy fight, and that was the larger victory.
