It doesn't??? Coulda fooled me. I think the Republicans in Congress are much too soft on the UN. The reason we are behind on our dues is because some in Congress are a tad miffed with the rampant corruption pervading the whole edifice and withhold their votes in protest. The thought of the UN having it's own military and taxing power, as is being proposed is terrifying. Add a loss of our veto to the foregoing and withdrawal becomes the only viable option.
