Re: Digital TV - Cisco Moving In / Tandberg Agreement

Thread- As I've mentioned upstream, the idea of the TV plant as an access technology sure seems to be important to Cisco(CSCO) Systems future plans. IMHO, they are really moving heavily into this space. TV is just such an incredibly pervasive technology worldwide. Tandberg is a publicly traded company, but not traded in the US. -MikeM(From Florida)

Tandberg Television Shares Soar on Agreement With Cisco

Oslo, Sept. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Tandberg Television ASA shares soared as much as 18 percent after the Norwegian maker of broadcasting equipment said it signed an agreement with Cisco Systems Inc., the world's largest provider of computer networking products, to re-sell and integrate Cisco's networking products for the broadcasting sector.

The shares rose as much as 11 kroner to a 15-week high of 72.5, giving Tandberg Television a market value of 3.95 billion kroner ($434 million).

The products ''satisfy a growing need among cable and other operators to be able to offer data-related services such as high- speed Web access, digital video'' and voice transmission over the Internet, Tandberg said.
