Elmer,

Get a grip Scumbria. It proved some of the circuitry runs at 4GHz. Nevertheless, the guys over at MPR say they expect P4 to hit 2GHz core speed on the current .18u process.

Some of the circuitry runs at 2GHz. Some of the circuitry runs at 4Ghz. Some of the circuitry doesn't run at either 2GHz or 4GHz.

MPR is a bunch of wonderful people. They have a nice meeting every October.

Elmer,

Apparently Intel's lawyers got to the P4 benchmark folks. With the launch a few short weeks away, shouldn't Intel be a little more open about the numbers?

Elmer, <It proved some of the circuitry runs at 4GHz.>

Nah, that can't be true. Intel must have disabled the integer unit. Yeah, that's the ticket.
