Premier Tang Fei, the island's second highest ranking official, yesterday called for patience while the government tries to root out financial fraud. Prosecutors this week raided Chang Hwa Commercial Bank, the island's eighth-biggest bank. The probe followed raids earlier this month on a prominent legislator who occupies senior positions at a number of property and media business groups.

UMC Will Issue ADR in September 2000

Economic Daily News in Taiwan reporting today that UMC will issue ADR in September, and ADR
will be sold at 50% premium of UMC stock price.
ALSC own 340M shares of UMC, which is approx.
$1.1 Billion, and may have additional gain of
50% premium over current value in terms of ADR.

ALSC's core business 16M DRAMs are in shortage now,price go from $3 to $4.25/pc now, delivery leadtime is more than 20 weeks.
