Thanks Uncle Frank,

What you gave us was the wake up call we needed. We have to expect no less from one of SI's Icons. Also on a personal note, thanks again for taking the time to write and ask what was up and where had I been. You are a class act and am proud to call you friend.

My Best,
Joel

re: ...the Porch is looking pretty good...

no it isn't. it's looking like a crime scene that's still wet after hastily being hosed down with soap and water to clean up the blood. it was a multiple homicide. in your dire bent to eliminate a rude pest, a couple of innocent victims were killed in the strategically planned ambush. one of them was free and open expression... and the other was the idea that conservatives as well as liberals were able to co-exist and believe that they both were welcome here.

i've always been a bit concerned that certain words were professed to be banned on the porch. words are the building blocks of books and in my opinion no particular word or book should EVER be banned or burned. (whether i'd want to read them or agree with them is another matter) i saw those words used in non-vulgar ways as civil disobedience to test the ban. i think rudeness and liberty got into the same space and in an effort to punish the rudeness, it was decided by some that liberty was an expendable resource and an affordable casualty.

i think your military maneuver to cleanse the porch was wrong and your profession of victory rings hollow. i feel you've wounded the homeland. it's not now a place that i feel open to express doubts about your judgement. (which is not to say i don't like you - i do)

JMHO

love,

-polvie
