I don't think anyone will taking them over soon, but I do think their stock is a MUCH better value than it has been a few years.

You may recall I think cash flow per share is more important than EPS for gold shares, and they should at least be trading at 10X cash flow.
ABX had 1.67CF and it trades near 10X, NEM had 2.54CF and is at $18.50, but should be more like $25 (IMHO)

Historically, I have used ABX as a proxy for my AU/XAU trading strategy because I was concerned about downside risk. I think we have seen the bottom (or damn close to it) and I would rather be buying NEM than ABX. I was looking to pick some up under $18, but did not get around to it. Better put it on the top of my list of "things to do"
