Pravin: <<Maybe he lost out to Ruiz, and that is why he is leaving>>

Thanks for the info.

My gut feeling is that he lost to James Doran (formerly Head of Submicron Center, later sent to Fab 25 to rescue when K6-2 400 yields poorly, now the general manager of Fab 30).

In simple term, Larry H represented Fab 25 faction while Jim Doran has been doing a great job as AMD's rescuer and great manager of Fab 30 yet still reports to Larry H.

When tensions rise between these two individuals, AMD has no choice but to side with Jim Doran, which is a right one.

I will not be surprised to see Jim D taking over his position later.

Just my 2 cents.

Pravin, <Many who worked for him thought he was an asshole.>

I am confident your old boss is the one. This description
of L.H. is unspeakably wrong.

re: "Many who worked for him thought he was an asshole."

He very well could have been to his subordinates. I found him to be very cordial and charming over the phone. I was surprised at how willing he was to pass time with me on the phone. In several calls we must have spent well over an hour discussing various issues on which he later proved to be far more optimistic than the company's history has born out.

Regardless, he is gone now and I am confident that his duties are in far more capable hands.

Patient Regards,

DARBES
