SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Applied Imaging Corp. (AICX) received Food and Drug Administration clearance to market its cancer-cell-detection system.

In a press release Wednesday, Applied Imaging said the system was approved for in-vitro detection of micrometastatic cells, associated with the spread of cancer, in bone-marrow specimens.

The company also plans to release additional cancer-cell-identifying applications in the future.
