I bought nuance because I went to a bunch of startup b2b exchanges that are enabling their products with v-xml. here is one mygazoo.com

The reason they feel the need to do this is they want to enable virtual warehousing, where farmers and retailers and everybody can simply call in to an 800# on the phone while they are walking up and down the aisles and say, "I am vendor 123 with 250 bushels apples at $x.x price". Whether this takes off in terms of use is not really relevant at this stage since nuan is a supplier to the exchanges so they will buy the software from nuance and use it whether the customer base is ready or not.

Anyway I'm out of nuan now since a lockup is expiring soon, but I do think if you want to play the voiceweb nuan is the stock to play it with... there are a bunch of others but not as strong... ask William he is more familiar

>> Could Nuance port their software to unix?

Of course they can and do. But there are also many competitors and I am not aware of any special advantage that nuance has technically over L&H or others. My point was not whether their software is good or portable. Rather that $180 for the stock of a company losing money. And a Market cap over $3B for annual rev under $50m is absurd.
