Ted when AMD was in the 90's pre-split we never got the volume you said we'd need to move higher. I don't think many of us saw the slide from there being as steep as it was, but in hindsight it doesn't surprise me. Since the split AMD has been moving higher on greatly reduced dollar volume. Does this portend that more testing of the lows may have to be done before we see a significant move to the upside? Just thought I'd ask for your thoughts on the matter.

Ed,

No, I don't think we need to test the lows again. Typically that happens when a chart makes a v pattern coming out of a pullback. AMD started to make the v pattern but then its upward movement moderated and its progress slowed. Today was a nice gap up on stronger than normal volume.

The stock is still not under strong accumulation; however that appears to be improving as evidenced by today's action. It will be interesting to see what happens after Labor Day.

Assuming no bad news or a Naz pullback, AMD should have pretty clear sailing until it hits $43-45 where it will encounter strong resistance.....barring unforeseen bullish news at that point, it will probably consolidate its gains for a period of time before moving up again.
