<<Anyone who believes Al Gore actually intends to submit a budget proposal which would spend 127 billion dollars on the military is either delusional, or a fool. >>

He has had 7 years where he could have suggested some building of the military to his boss. I don't remember him doing that.

Al Gore to say he's about to spend 10 trillion dollars for some program
The budget proposals don't seem to be in the online version of Time so you would have to read the paper. Gore does have an item in the budget in the trillions of dollars, it is for national debt reduction.

Who is the greatest backer with influence in controlling Gore? The labor unions. At the convention 31 percent of the delegates were labor people compared to 17 percent of the democratic voting block. So, it was overweighted. The majority of the union people work for the government. If you go to Gores campaign web site and look up the groups listed as "Voter Outreach" you will find "Educators," Environmental Voters," "Ethnic Americans." Unions are arguably the most powerful constituency for Gore and yet he does not recognize them on his campaign website. Why? The Unions had far more delegates than blacks, Hispanics or feminists at the convention. Yet he does not recognize them on his website. Please clarify why he would elect to not acknowledge organized labor in his campaign? Is he ashamed of this part of the family? I believe a lot of thinking union members are voting for Bush. If I were one of those who are backing him heavily though I would question why such a large and prominent constituency isn't recognized as supporters even.
