Press Release
AMD Names Harry Wolin Vice President of Intellectual Property
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 1, 2000--AMD today announced that Harry Wolin has joined AMD as vice president of intellectual property. In this newly created position, Wolin will be responsible for the intellectual property matters of AMD, direct the Technology Law Department, and report to the Office of the General Counsel and Secretary.

Prior to joining AMD, Wolin was with Motorola for 12 years and held a number of positions within its legal organization, primarily in intellectual property law. Most recently, Wolin served as vice president and director of legal affairs for Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector where he was responsible for the worldwide legal matters, including intellectual property, of Motorola's semiconductor business.

``Harry brings a wealth of experience in intellectual property strategy, development and licensing, as well as other sophisticated technology transactions. Harry's decision to join our organization is an affirmation of AMD's stature as a world class intellectual property producer,'' said Thomas M. McCoy, senior vice president, secretary and general counsel of AMD.

Wolin, whose principal office will be in Austin, said, ``AMD is a technology leader in high speed microprocessor and flash memory design as well as in process development and manufacturing. This, along with its unique business position makes it a very intriguing place to practice intellectual property law.''

Wolin received a degree in chemistry from the University of Arizona in 1984. He received his JD degree from Arizona State University in 1988. He is a member of the Arizona State Bar, and registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

"As the situation has evolved, it is certainly far from static, I continue to believe that AMD common represents one of the greatest market inefficiencies of all time."
