Neither is it fair to indulge in demagoguery to imply to masses that he had no role whatsoever. The bill that he introduced was one of the catalyst in promotion of Internet.

No, Gore went along with the flow in promoting commercialization. We all know the Internet was founded in the late 60s when Gore was busy dodging bullets in Nam. He did go along with every spending bill, so in that respect he supported spending money on the Internet.

would it be fair to say that he was instrumental in creating it, which was the original claim? The internet did not exist until Al Gore passed legislation to do so. That's certainly a large part of the creation. Did he write the Arpanet protocols which became the protocol of the internet? Did he string phone lines on the poles? NO. His legislation didn't care which protocol or how many dots were in an address. He created a public decentralized network which we call the internet. TP
