Here is a homework assignment for you. Take the market share numbers Alcatel was touting before Newbridge was taken over. Then take the recent market share numbers Alcatel is touting now. The difference is all from Aware/ADI (minus a small amount of growth Alcatel had on its own.)

alcatel.com

.....Moreover, Alcatel's cumulative market share increased ten percentage points over the same period last year to 54%.....

Almost ten percent of Alcatel's market share can be attributed to Newbridge, which is attributed to Aware/ADI. I know I have made a few assumptions here, I just wanted to point out the magnitude of chips Aware/ADI is currently selling to Alcatel. So I don't understand why people have such a hard time swallowing that Alcatel wouldn't increase that if they are having some chip production problems. They make more money on the ADSL systems than the chip sales in the ADSL systems.

Just my two and a half cents!
